Beaches

Heading south from the promontory of Capoliveri, visitors discover a coastline filled with wonderful beaches such as Spiaggia di Lacona, protected by the gulf of the same name. A long stretch of fine sand sheltered from the winds and preserved from overdevelopment thanks to its inclusion within the Parco Nazionale dell’Arcipelago Toscano. Offshore, the rocky seabed offers the perfect opportunity to dive into crystal-clear waters rich in marine life.

Not far away, Spiaggia di Barabarca lies within a small bay surrounded by lush vegetation, making it one of the favourite destinations for travellers seeking a peaceful and environmentally respectful holiday. Nearby, Spiaggia di Margidore stands out for its wide dark-pebble beach, quieter atmosphere and marina equipped for pleasure boats. Reaching the charming coves of Spiaggia di Pareti, visitors can admire the distant silhouette of Corsica. Getting there is easy thanks to the minibus departing from Capoliveri.

Further south lies the famous Cala dell’Innamorata, a popular dark-sand beach where every year the local legend that gave the beach its name is celebrated once again: the love story of two young people from Capoliveri tragically interrupted by pirates. Facing the beach are the nearby Gemini Islands, whose waters are home to abundant marine fauna. A short walk finally leads to the secluded coves of Punta della Ciarpa.

Continuing south, visitors encounter the trail leading up to Monte Calamita, the area of the ancient iron mines. From here it is possible to overlook several hidden beaches accessible only by boat or canoe: Punta Rossa, Spiaggia del Ginepro and the beach near the old Calamita mine are wild and unspoiled places inhabited by seagulls and seabirds such as the Mediterranean Shag. These coves are not easy to reach, but they remain untouched, fascinating and absolutely worth visiting.
